Today was an optional holiday of sorts

Today was an optional federal holiday here, that fuzzy area of government sort-of recognizing a Catholic date while, according to the 1988 Constitution, pretending to be free of religious affiliation. It is a municipal holiday, however.

¶ Here’s one vote for returning to the use of symbols like the ampersand and the pilcrow. Etc. has three vertical dots but that doesn’t look cool; just go with &c. The at (@) symbol is now omnipresent. Bring the others back!

¶ A couple of days ago, my friend Chris U. from Chicago cited Philippians 2.12-13 and 3.12-16, then added:

“When is the best time to allow the strength of the Lord to work in your life? June 2, 2026
Find a way to spiritually plant or water or fertilize or feed your soul and one other soul with the wisdom the love of the God.
Your one step of faith may seem small. Let God give the increase so that heaven will rejoice.
When is the best time to allow the strength of the Lord to work in your life? Today.

¶ Lord, preserve me from negativity, from complaints, from taking the sour view of life and others.

¶ Three things today I’m grateful to God for: (1) getting a good bit of stuff done; (2) resurrecting my personal blog here on Pagecord; (3) sharing with a loved one possibilities for improving health.

¶ Software and app updates are good, a sign, usually, of progress. Things moving forward. God help me update my heart every single day.

¶ My verse of the day is Luke 17.18 NET: “Was no one found to turn back and give praise to God except this foreigner?”
