A campaign to help a brother down south who needs surgery is supposed to start today, but already, ahead of time, sixteen people and congregations have contributed. A nice start, but the last amounts may be the hardest (although the Lord can make it happen). The hospital’s estimate is good until the end of the month, so the good people behind the campaign are running against the clock. It is good to help people in need, to take care of our own.
¶ Both the Missus and I got cold last night (no indoor heating here), and more wintry days lie ahead, plus rain, beginning Wed., so says the forecast. Maybe I should move further north toward the equator for year-round heat? Nah, I'm good.
¶ Lately blog posts are coming every other day. While the Missus is incapacitated, that may be the frequency. Give me a couple three weeks, and then we’ll see how it goes. I used to do some meaty studies here. Who knows ─ might do some more of that.
¶ We’re not liturgy people, since that is a later development to the original model given us in the Bible, but some of our guys could do better preparation when leading in worship. The Lord deserves the best we can do.
¶ A quote: “When the road’s rough, sharp stones cutting your feet, steep up-hill pull, brow a bit moist, jaw shut, hand clenched, it helps us to remember this: Jesus was here; he trod this same way. He was here first, and he was here most. It’s never so rough since his feet have smoothed it down. And he is in it today, close by the one who holds steady in spite of the roughness. Let’s lean on Jesus a bit harder.”
¶ An original verse:
Regardless of my life and situation,
The Lord’s my solid rock and sure foundation.
¶ A biblical verse, for the Last Word: “I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge” Psalm 71.7 ISV. Note: The word “example” is taken by many versions in a negative sense; people are shocked to see his situation, but he takes refuge in God. That’s a good way to read it, also.
