Flat caps, hair cuts, zingers, links and two questions

The authors group on FB has been growing slowly but surely, seems to be taking off now. It’s a place to find out what’s being published in the brotherhood. Worth your while if you’re on FB. The UPLift group is another growing oneโ€”why can’t people just sign up to my site or list? (I created the UPLift logo all by my lonesome, one of the coolest visuals I’ve ever done. Whatcha think of it?)

Let’s get the links out of the way, then on to this post’s Content.

Am making a few stabs at restarting the Christian Poets group/site. Join up as a subscriber or contributor at the link above. Who knows, even the Yahoo poet chat group might churn into action as well.

Speaking of poetry, another Cloudburst poem got sent to the list yesterday, one stanza of which you may be privileged to read, here, if you are not a subscriber.

And late Thursday night I posted a Corollaries segment on TFR, here, which some may find a bit polemical, about when and if we ought to be like the religions around us.

I’ve always disliked going to barbers. I persuaded the Missus to take the clippers in hand and cut my hair yesterday. Neither one of us had an idea of what length it would come out to be. It’s a tad shorter than I wanted, but it’ll grow. I got some relief from my grown-out locks. Needed it in this heat. And we saved some money in the process.

Yesterday was not an overly productive day, as I would james-randal-chapeu-rostocount it, but it was a good one. Strange combination, that. I did get over to pay the rent for the office. The owner had just returned from his beach house. With my newly shaved trimmed head exposed to the sun, I wore my flat cap when I went to pay him. Such caps are typical of Italy, among other places, and as a descendent of an Italian, he wears one all the time. He loved seeing me in one. The pic at right was made last year.

Am loving the moot forum embedded in my blog. Good for quick thoughts, cool chats, zingers not tied to social media. You have to go there to find me. You probably wish more of me was there than splayed across the Internet, right? You can even sign up (through FB if you’re lazy) and join in.

Here’s a question for you, two, actually: Where (on what site) do you spend most of your time on the Internet, and what is your favorite site on the Internet? I’m assuming you might actually spend more time on a less fave site.

Be pithy.

  1. Wish I had more time for poetry. Love doing it, but consuming for me. Hard work, it is (said Yoda). As for the questions, I guess FB is my primary site. As for favorite…Don’t think I have one. Just a handful that I visit from time to time. Missed the corollaries – going over to read now ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh, and I have always dug the simplicity of the UPLift logo! Oh, AND…just read this morning how American “Florida” O.J. is actually a blend of Floridian and Brazilian oranges…so pay our warm and hearty regards to those to whom it applies when next you see them, k? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Oh, oh! The cap – you pulled it off! used to wear hats (baseball, beisbol?) ALL. THE. TIME. Now, they make my head sore.

  3. Yup, the US is one of the big importers of Brazilian OJ, I hear. Maybe it’s the Floridians who are doing it. Maybe they’re like the ones who called the Equadorian hats Panama hats. Not origin but international point of sale gained it the name. So if the OJ lands in Florida, it can be called Florida OJ, right?

You almost got it right: beisebol. Japanese immigrants play it here.

Thanks! Should I next go for a fedora or trilby? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Fedora, definitely. And I just realized…we usually end up on a tangent in one place or another, and it is usually caused by me. I don’t know if I have a clinical case of ADD, but I should probably consider getting tested or something. Speaking of tests…

    1. Ah, yes, speaking of tests. Don’t like them. To be avoided whenever possible.

What do you think?
