Wisdom’s secret code: KMMS

The code—my own invention to remember at critical times—is an acronym: “Keep my mouth shut.” What I should do more of. I even have biblical backing for it.

The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness. Pro 12.23 NLT.

Not everybody wants to know the answer. Not everybody wants to be helped.

Generally speaking, people don’t want to know that you know. They’re too busy “broadcasting.”

This is even true at times in the body of Christ.

The “but” in the citation above could be replaced with “because.”

The wise teach and counsel, yes, but they know better than to insert their wisdom where it will not be welcome.

So at times I see, in my mind’s eye, blazed across the sky, KMMS.

I refuse to confess how many times I am successful. Or not.

The first portion of this devotional was posted on Plink, but it kept growing and demanded to make a “show” in the main section of this site.
