The wisest word I ever heard
That seized my shrinking heart,
Was high and old and often told,
A truth and living art:

If God above is holy love,
And Judge of human deeds,
This sovereign Lord of right reward,
Supplier of greatest needs,

Deserves to hear the hope that’s dear
Confessed by tongue and trust;
He’d see us show the life we know,
Till bodies turn to dust.

God is, and moves, and daily proves
His good and perfect plan;
He calls the meek who cry and seek,
Receives repentant man.

What do you think?
