He who lives by right principles avoids a heap of trouble, but the selfish and impassioned person creates all sorts of difficulties for himself.
The righteous do not encounter any harm,
but the wicked are filled with calamity.
Proverbs 12.21 NET
The above proverb doesn’t affirm that the righteous will never have any problems. It does affirm that righteousness saves one from much suffering, and this doesn’t happen with the wicked. Righteousness is right living.
The quiet and peaceful life which Scripture recommends happens when we live by divine principles rather than act on passions or make decisions to please people.
Thank you, Lord, for saving us from innumerable problems as we live guided by your wisdom.
Hold this thought: On the wicked woes befall, / The righteous are not harmed at all.
