When there are powerful things to remember, memory has an easier time of it. We recall those things that make a strong impression on us.
… we recall in the presence of our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and endurance of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 1.3 NET
“Work of faith” refers not to the meetings of the church on the first day of the week, but to the Thessalonians’ constant and daily efforts in the kingdom among the pagans around them.
Faith acts. It works in love (Galatians 5.6). It leads to obedience (Romans 1.5; 15.26). It speaks (2 Corinthians 4.13). It moves mountains (Matthew 17.20; 21.21).
Faith is not static, never alone, never confined to the inner man.
Such a faith is unforgettable.
What is your faith doing today?
Father, I believe. Put feet to my faith, through the power of your Holy Spirit.
Hold this thought: When man in Christ believes, / he soon God’s will achieves.
