So far this trip I have been to three funerals or visitation. From what I hear, a fourth may not be far away.
One was a family member, one the wife of an old school mate, the other the son, three years older than I, of a family we used to go to church with when I was a boy.
These back-to-back funerals remind me that life is brief and uncertain. (And makes me want even more to be with my wife and daughter at home.)
That truth means, first, that we must not squander the time we have.
It means that we must pursue the life that will be eternal and sure.
It means that the now becomes our moment to prepare for the then.
I hope you will do that with me. And encourage me as well.
