How to reignite our joy and hope, when we have lost them?
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord” Jn 20.20.
Jesus’ resurrection is the proof of all that God proposed to accomplish for humanity. The risen Christ restores the joy of receiving God’s gift and the hope of a future within his purpose.
When discouragement comes knocking, we ought to go not only to the Cross, but also to the empty tomb of Christ, see his hands and his side. We need a vision for the Lord’s victory over death.
There at the empty tomb, and before the risen Lord, is our certainty that God still works upon the earth.
There we marvel at his divine power.
There we find strength for our own transformation.
There we see the plan accomplished that justifies us from all sin.
There we stand before the mission of God, and ours, in the world.
God raised Jesus from the dead, to live forever. This fact validates all our faith, feeds all our hopes, and expresses all the love of God for us.
