The swim teacher said I swam 1600m today, 32 laps in an hour. I counted less, but I’ll trust the objectivity of someone who’s not in the water. I tend to lose count after a few laps.
Not bad after a week of swimming, for an old guy.
We watched the opening game of the World Cup yesterday between Brazil and Croatia. Brazil won 3-1 and had the distinction of making all the goals in the game. Figure that one out. Continue reading
Odds and ends of life after one week at home.
I didn’t start back swimming until Wednesday. First day back, I felt like an elephant in the water. Yesterday, I was back up to 1680 meters in the 50-minute class period, but the teacher went light on me. But after two months off, still not a bad mark. Continue reading

I’d mentioned that I lost my swim teacher after a year and a half. Renata, one of the teachers I know from the school, has taken over Francisco’s classes. She makes me work harder at other strokes besides crawl (freestyle?), and yesterday I had to do lots of combination strokes. It gives me a better work-out, I suppose, but I swim fewer meters.
