The Lord is good — a fortress, indeed,
For those in distress, for times of need;
The Lord protects the small and weak,
Who come for refuge, who knock and seek.
The Lord shows mercy — he hears the pleas
Of the poor, all human suffering sees,
He welcomes the humble, breaks the proud,
Gives hope to those whose necks are bowed.
The glory is God’s, so we repent of our sins, confess the truth, and acknowledge that he is holy and just. May God forgive us and shine his face upon us. His glory is in his mercy, his praise in his power!
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he gave us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, that is, into an inheritance imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. It is reserved in heaven for every saint, who by God’s power is protected through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Praise the God of our salvation!
