Vicki was at her mother’s house, and they’d had dinner Wednesday evening with her Uncle Harold, who lives with her mother. After 21 years of sleeping on the same waterbed, we got a new bed and springs today. The waterbed sprang a leak, and rather than try to fix it, we figured it was time to retire it.
If our new bed, which was expensive, to my mind, as things like that tend to be here, lasts half as long as the waterbed, it will have served us well. Continue reading “After 21 years, we get a new bed”

I wrote this poem-prayer this morning, longer than my usual poems, on hearing of my Aunt Dorothy’s death yesterday.
Yesterday, my Aunt Dorothy Whitworth passed away, in Baytown, TX. The funeral will be Friday in Paragould, AR. She is my Dad’s sister. May God comfort all the family.

My mother’s brother’s son, Dearl McDonald, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14. If I ever met him it was when I was a boy. Uncle Bud was one of the older ones of the family, so Dearl would have been some 21 years older than I.
