So God was there, as always,
Himself complete, the three of him,
and we want to ask, how long
of eternity before he decided
to create — what a nonsensical question!
As if minutes and seconds counted
before the First Creative Word to Let
there be light! — when nothing contingent
or iffy existed. As I was saying, so God was there —
not that there was a place — for space didn’t come
along until later — and he spoke it all
into existence — it didn’t just happen.
He made it happen.
And he had a reason for making it happen.
And it all fit, and worked, until somebody
goofed it up (we’ll not call names). And still
it works, because God keeps it going.
So he spoke not only the universe
into existence, but shouted out
the reason as well, for those who’re inclined
to listen.
And for those who aren’t,
they can always believe in evolution,
or some such nonsense.

Many people seek God when they feel they need something: relief from problems, solutions to crises, healing for body or relationships. God wants us to seek him for himself. No need is greater than our need for him. He created us this way. Glory to God for satisfying this deepest need!

Praise the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant.

From Psalm 104.

What majesty, exquisite design,
perfect timing, atomic precision,
ordered movements, obvious purpose!

Only God could dream and make
a world, a universe like this!
In it he placed humanity.

Our point of contact, verdant garden,
optimum space to seek the Lord!
Praise and honor belong to him!

Glory to God who separates heaven and earth, land and sea, who provides us spaces, both private and public, in which to live, work, and rest—homes, offices, gardens, parks, and woods that invite us and call to us and refresh us! He is the God of movement from eternity to time and to eternity again. Praise be to the God of space and time and force and relationships, God of spirit and Lord of substance!

“In the beginning” — Time, that gift of light,
“God” — Your personal force, our final goal,
“Created” — loving action, eternal sight,
“The heavens” — where You abide, the home of the soul,
“The earth” — our space where faith and zeal ignite.
