On the way home from the airport, I started singing to keep the spirits up, after seeing the wife and daughter off, as I faced an empty house. I made up some stanzas to the kiddy song, “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy.” Here are the ones I can remember:
- I’ve got the very best that God can give me … down in my heart.
- I’ve got the gospel power of God to save … down in my heart.
- I’ve got the special joy that comes from heaven … down in my heart.
- I’ve got the Holy Spirit’s habitation … down in my heart.
The song kept my mind occupied the whole hour on the highway home.
Yeah, I know, you’re thinking, what a pitiable fellow.
Do you have any new lines for that song?
