Simple Christianity

From Neal Pollard’s Daily Bread–Wednesday–11-7-07–SIMPLICITY:

I am impressed with how God has made New Testament Christianity so simple. Salvation is not dependent upon complicated jargon, complex literary formula, or vague or esoteric commands. No biblical teaching is simpler than the essential role of baptism in our salvation (cf. Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:1ff; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21; etc.). It has taken mankind much rationalizing and obfuscating to complicate this simple Bible truth. God has arranged it so that all that is essential is attainable (cf. 2 Peter 1:3). This is yet another proof of God’s infinite wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:18-21). It could not be simpler! What we need is, as the song suggests, “simple, trusting faith.”

Some want to make it complicated, so they can be controllers. Others want to make faith seem obscure, to justify their departures from Scripture. But it just ain’t that hard to figure out.

What do you think?
