Ron arrived Tuesday morning, the 29th, from Florida for meetings about the next model of jet that his employer Embraer plans to release. He returns Thursday night to his home. And even though his three days here have been filled with meetings all day, he made it a point to come be with us and, at my invitation, speak to our home Bible reading group.
Ron has met with the church on two previous trips and preached both in Taubate and SJCampos. Most of our group had never met him, however. Of 12 adults present, two are not Christians, one is a new disciple, and another is unfaithful to Christ.
Ron spoke on the gospel as God’s power to save. Then what is necessary to enter Christ. And how important it is to be faithful.
His earnestness shone through and deeply impressed many of those present. He especially seemed to touch one of the non-Christians, the new convert, and the erring brother.
After the study everyone stayed for pizza and enjoyed the conversation; the last guests left around 11 p.m.
As I drove Ron back to his hotel, I told him how his presence had moved people closer to the Lord and closer to decisions, as well as confirming them in their faith.
Who knows but what the Lord brought him to us here for just such a time as this.
Father in Heaven, thank you for giving us family in Christ, for distributing your gifts richly among us, and for touching lives with your grace evident in your servant Ron. Bless his return home, his family, and his congregation, as we ask your blessing upon us, to your glory. In Christ, Amen.
