Rewards and trust

At the heart of discipleship lie right motivations and exclusive service. While pagans choose man and money, disciples seek divine approval and trust in divine providence. The essence of hypocrisy is religion performed for man. God approves discretion and simplicity as marks of true faith.

And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matthew 6.18b NET

Trust in God for daily bread relieves the pressure from attempts to guarantee one’s future. Worry becomes a non-issue. Kingdom-first seekers get life’s physical basics as icing on the cake. Because they have their heads in the right place, doing right by God.

On you, O God, we depend, and from you we seek approval. Thank you for your faithfulness and your promises in Christ.

Hold this thought: Do secret good for him who good approves, / Serve God: for you both heaven and earth he moves.
