How can I repay the Lord for all his acts of kindness to me?
Psalm 116:12 NET
The author of this psalm knew it was impossible to repay God. But his question is not entirely rhetorical. He knew also that he was not absolved from responding to this goodness of the Lord.
He will participate in worship (verse 13) and fulfill his vows (verse 14). He will show his gratitude by his faithfulness.
Just so, the goodness of God should provoke in us the same reaction: acknowledgement that we have an impossible debt, irruption of praise and constancy in service to God.
This is the English translation of my Portuguese-language devotional Deus Conosco (God with us), sent today by email and online.
How do you strive to “repay” the Lord and what goodness have you seen in your life from his hand?
