This quatrain was inspired by a United Prayer tweet I wrote earlier this morning:
God undaunted by the frowns of men,
Make me bold to speak truth to need,
In hostile halls of kings or house of friends;
To ask for courage from you, O Lord, I kneel.
And this from Quick Bible Truths, with a comment added on Facebook:
Anything? Anything that partakes of the same nature as Jesus’ works. See context. “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” Jn 14.14
For some of us, “anything” needs to be narrowed down. For others of us, “anything” must grow larger and greater than our small vision.
To pray is not to wither on the vine;
But vigorous growth in God’s good will, not mine.
