I pulled out the old New English Bible for some overview reading this morning, and this verse caught my eye.

At that time I will make Israel put out fresh shoots, and give you back the power to speak among them, and they will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 29.21 NEB

Some understand the verse as the reversal to the prophet’s speechlessness (Eze 3.26), that will finally occur in 33.22.

However that may be, when we feel our words are of none effect, God creates the moment when the power returns to speak among the people and the Spirit convicts and converts.

God of the living word, I wait for your power in order to speak effectively.

Hold this thought:
God makes the speaking for effect,
To gain from hearers due respect.

    • Thanks, John, yup, it could be worked up into a sermon, that verse has three important elements. 🙂

The NEB language seemed especially pertinent to me this morning.

What do you think?
