The prayer asks God to help us remember that, alongside his commands, he gives us his power to do them. This is why they are not burdensome.
We forget that the power to live in Christ comes from him.
It’s a prayer I make frequently.
Perhaps that’s why we need to declare together with King David:
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.
1 Chronicles 29.11 ESV
When we enter God’s kingdom and seek it with all our heart, we also encounter the greatness of his power.
This truth brings tears to the eyes, relief to the soul, and joy to the heart.
