Cloudburst: Twelve

Twelve is a significant number in Scripture. Since we’ve jumped into the pool of 2015, I use it for this twelve-line poem, using the twelve sons/tribes of Israel and twelve apostles to get to the twelve months before us.

Here’s the first stanza:

Twelve sons of Jacob, people of Israel,
As many stones to mark on Jordan’s banks,
The parting of waters by God, a sign to tell
Their sons of loyal love, and give Him thanks.

Each stanza contains an “as-many” phrase, and the one in the last stanza we don’t often think about in our modern construct of existence.
