Poem: Then There Was Evening

Evening fading light

Poem © 2011 Randal Matheny

Then there was morning, then there was evening,
A day in time, another twist
In the divine spiral of human history.

Another season wakes the mind,
Another sunset soothes the brow,
Another movement toward eternity.

Dark coolness after fevered action,
A quiet rest, and dampened stillness,
A day ends, and thought begins.
