King Neb ate the cattle’s grass on hands and knees,
His shaggy hair felt dew and the nightly breeze;
A beast was he, from throne to field he went,
He crawled till his pride before the Lord was bent.
And ours he’d break, for judgment soon will come,
That we not stand before him guilty and dumb.
This piece was a quick item after seeing a reference to Nebuchadnezzar on a social site. You can read about him in Daniel 4. What a lesson on the danger of pride is he! If we get to the day of judgment with our human pride intact, we’ll have nothing to say in defense.
