Poem: Air France Flight 447

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims of the Air France Flight 447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

Upon the bottom of the sea,
The burning answers lie;
Why lives — ended suddenly
In travel on the fly.

By whirling winds and storms of ice,
All human plans awry;
From low it seems a heavy price
To pay, to cross the sky.

The search among the frothy waves,
What many seek, won’t find;
Midst mangled limbs and watery graves,
The bitter tears fall blind.

What news can damp their sudden grief,
Give comfort in their need?
A box of voices won’t bring relief,
But only a Book to read.
