MoneyBrazil has become richer, and now people complain about the consumerism of Brazilian society. But those outside of Christ have no other reason for spending their money. The pleasures of the flesh mean everything to them. Helping one’s neighbor, when they do help, is to quiet the conscience.

Those who love pleasure become poor;
those who love wine and luxury will never be rich.
Proverbs 21:17 NLT

Think of the prodigal son. When one spends one’s money to enjoy life, not much will be left over. A larger house, a newer car, a better school for the kids, trips and vacations, fine clothes. The list is endless. Where there is a consumer, there is an industry to satisfy his desires.

The Christian has another motive for life and spends his money thinking of the investment in eternal life, for himself and for others.

  1. Great thoughts brother! I often tell the young people I teach, God doesn’t want a percentage of your money; He wants it all! Everything we do, everything we say, every dime we spend should be to glorify God (1 Corinthians 10:31). Thanks for the great reminder!
