Times are we start qualifying Jesus’ sayings so much, surrounding them with restrictions and explanations, that they lose their impact. One of them is found in this verse:

Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” 20  He told them, “It was because of your little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:19-20 NET

Our problem is not in thinking that we can do everything, but in thinking we can do little. To such people Christ speaks.

We leave off preaching because we don’t think it will do any good. And it doesn’t. We fail in the same way as the disciples who tried to expel a demon. Our failure only confirms our fears.

Put in the place of a mountain any other accomplishment. You couldn’t do it up until now because you had little faith.

Little faith is no faith at all. For when we have it in the least amount, God’s power is activated to accomplish in us and through us the great deeds of the Kingdom.

Nothing impossible for us? Don’t think that it sounds too good to be true. It’s the experience of the life in Christ.

  1. Absolutely hits the nail ON the head! We have been talking about this here, for we have too many who begin their sentences with, “I’m afraid that…” or “I don’t think that…” OR THE PRIZE: “We can’t do that…” AAAARGH! Randal, you touched my electric socket.

What do you think?
