What a sad day when no one was found who cared enough for the people of God to keep them from being destroyed.

I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.
Ezekiel 22.30 NLT

The people of Israel were destroyed because no one sought to stop the idolatry and injustice in their midst.

Today, the people of God is the body of Christ. In many places this people is also heading toward destruction, because not a few in their midst are taking them away from God’s will.

And who will stand in the gap in the wall and fight zealously for the good of the people before God?

Few will do this. The Lord himself will destroy such a people in the end, according to his own promise.

Who will perceive the bad fruit? Who will expel the immoral? Who will insist upon the truth? Who will show the way by example and teaching? Who will defend the divine doctrine?

Besides being a lament about the situation of that time, will this verse in the book of Ezekiel become a prophecy of our days?

The difference may be you.

  1. We always need more soldiers satisfied with doing the simple things. Guarding a hole in the wall seems petty, but is eminently vital. Good words 🙂
