I wrote the following letter today to Kevin J. Martin, chairman of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission:
Dear Chairman Martin:
I have just learned that Mrs. Peggy Nance has been hired by the FCC to advise Congress on broadcast decency standards. This is an encouraging move, and I pray she may have full authority to work toward restoring family-friendly programming.
Each time I return to the U.S., I am saddened by the general societal degeneration that worsens by the hour. It’s not the country I left 20 years ago; it is often an embarrassment to me as an expatriate.
So Mrs. Nance’s appointment provides a moment of encouragement, and I laud this move by the FCC.
