This trip will probably set a record for travel and appointments.
We arrived USA Wednesday April 29, went to Vicki’s mother’s house south of Iuka MS. Visited that night at Iuka church. Next day, to the missionary retreat at Maywood Christian Camp in Hamilton AL, where I spoke on “Models of Success in Brazil Work,” topic requested by the organizers.
Saturday, May 2, we went to the missions forum at Heritage Christian University, organized by area churches. Friday and Saturday nights we spent with Mike and Brenda Brooks, good friends in Tuscumbia, and joined them at the Highland Park congregation in Muscle Shoals Sunday morning, May 3.
That night I reported to the Iuka MS church.
May 4, Monday – To Henderson TN to spend some time with Micah, Valerie, Joel and Tansy.
May 6, Wednesday – Attended Chorale presentation in FHU chapel, last of the school year. Joel and Tansy are in the a cappella Chorale. Then off to Paragould, and a visit to Center Hill church, after a previous attempt at setting up a reporting time in an area congregation didn’t work out.
May 7, Friday – To Jonesboro shopping for getups for Joel and Tansy’s wedding the 30th.
May 9, Saturday – To N. Little Rock. Supper hosted by elder Mike Hughes, with Evans and Klotz families. BBQ, of course.
May 10, Sunday – Preached in the morning at the Somers Avenue church, on the phrase “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” in 2 Peter. Lunch with Mike and his daughter Amanda, plus the Evans and another couple from church. That night, PowerPoint report to Somers Avenue and a visit afterwards to the home of Mike and Mary Hughes, who’d had surgery on Thursday.
May 11, Monday – To Morrilton AR to meet with some of the staff of Southern Christian Home, through which help is channeled to the Lar Cristao Children’s Home, which Vicki and I work with in Brazil. Very informative and postive meeting. Then back to Paragould.
Here is our agenda for the next few days, which I add here since I may offline.
May 12, Tuesday – Enjoyable dinner with Vernon and Ellen Lacey. Vernon is a long-time elder of the Center Hill congregation; they’ve been a great encouragement to us over the years.
May 13, Wednesday – PowerPoint report to the Acton church in Michie TN. Good folks there, many of whom we’ve known since the 70s. To spend the night with Vicki’s mom in Iuka, our base through Saturday.
May 14, Thursday – Visit to Fulton MS and the 21st Century Global Missions team. Invited to speak at a preacher’s luncheon.
May 15, Friday – A jump to Florence AL?
May 16, Saturday – FHU graduation, where Joel and Micah’s wife Valerie will be crowned. Lunch with the gang at Micah’s house. Then whizzing back to Paragould.
May 17, Sunday – Report in the morning to the Mountain Home congregation; in the evening, report and sermon at Center Hill, then meeting with the elders.
May 18, Monday – Meeting with Barbara Oliver in W. Memphis or Memphis.
That should get us far enough ahead on our travels. For the rest see the itinerary.
