How do you feel when you receive a compliment completely exaggerated? I get really embarrassed, because everybody knows it’s not true, and besides, it’s probably an attempt to impress me.

Evil people do not understand justice,
but those who seek the LORD understand it all.
Proverbs 28:5 NET

We live in an age in which false humility wants to rob us of truth. It says we don’t have a corner on the market of truth. Nobody understands everything about the Bible. And there’s a dash of truth in this.

But we shouldn’t despise that firm knowledge that those who seek the Lord actually have. “All” here refers to the things of God, of salvation, of the life which pleases the Lord. In the same way, Timothy learned through the Scriptures to be “wise for salvation” (2 Timothy 3:15).

Evil people are confused, they lack a true north, they’re without direction, they don’t know how to be righteous. The Lord’s servants know, and they know it “fully” (NIV).

And that’s nothing to get embarrassed about.

  1. Boldness, access, confidence (cf. Eph. 3:12; Heb. 10:19; 1 Jn. 4:17), God’s people have. Good words.

What do you think?
