The Lord gives knowledge

Who am I to judge anything? Who are you as well to emit opinions about what others do?

Ah, but when God shows what is right and wrong, when he gives understanding in order that we may comprehend the nature of actions, that’s another thing:

The LORD gave me knowledge, that I might have understanding.
Then he showed me what the people were doing.
Jeremiah 11.18 NET

The capacity to judge actions rightly comes from the Lord’s revelation about right and wrong. This revelation, it always bears repeating, is contained completely in Scripture.

As in Jeremiah’s case, he shows us things we never notice.

O Lord, I cannot truly know it, / Unless you make me see and show it.

(Would you please share this thought with someone today?)

  1. “This revelation, it always bears repeating, is contained completely in Scripture.”

This was not true of Jeremiah’s revelations…Nor would it be true in the case of an answered prayer for wisdom/understanding…

    1. You’re correct about Jeremiah. My thought was — and I almost added it — in today’s terms. Your second statement raises an interesting question about how God answers that request.

What do you think?
