Seldom do we give thanks, fewer times still for sharing in the suffering of Christ.
We equate pain avoidance with well-being. We live by aspirin and pain-killers. Spiritually, that dulls the soul and numbs the will of God in us.
So today’s Cloudburst poem, without a negative hint, goes in this direction.
The first four of 12 lines are these:
We thank you, Lord, for giving us part
In Jesus’ suffering, in pains and trials,
To die with him, to know his heart
Of love, to walk those dusty miles
…
Ask, and I’ll send you the rest.
