The word “visit” in “to visit orphans and widows” from James 1:27 is not a good translation for today. The word means to care for, not merely to pay a visit to. Its meaning has changed since KJV days, and the revisors of the RSV text should have changed this. Unfortunate.

  1. I was just noting other versions. NIV says “to look after.” NET, “to care for,” even clearer.

What do you think?
