A little verse — might I call it a dirge? — to wail our dilemma for the upcoming elections.
Election Dilemma 2008
by J. Randal Matheny
This pagan season holds no hope for the Right.
While well-meaning friends suggest we might
Hold our nose and vote for mav McCain,
His moderate pose exceeds my threshold of pain.
Obama scares me; do I vote him out,
Or stay at home and chew my nails in doubt?
Oh, to find a true believer,
And let my wounded conscience pull the lever
For a moral choice! I’d hang out to dry
The Grand Old Party, whisper a sad goodbye,
Retreat, betrayed and bitter, to higher ground,
Where every life is prized, and thinking sound.
There is no party of principle, only Babel;
And Reagan was a prince — the rest are rabble.
