Goal of rescueThe police in Shadong, China, got a phone call about a woman’s body floating in one of the province’s rivers.

So a rescue team of 18 policemen spent 40 minutes fishing out the body, only to discover it was a life-sized inflatable doll.

Do we know what we’re out to save? Are the objects of our rescue efforts clear in our minds? Will our efforts have been for naught, after we have toiled long and hard?

“My brothers and sisters, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone turns him back, he should know that the one who turns a sinner back from his wandering path will save that person’s soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins” (James 5:19-20 NET).

Are we clear in our minds that our task is to save a soul from eternal death?

Creator of soul and body, may our efforts match our goal.

Keep this thought: Not to paint a house or clothe a back, but save a soul and win the wanderer back.
