Today’s devotional from DEUS Conosco, translated for your edification.
But he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?”
Mark 4:38 NET
How ironic this question of the disciples to the Master, who came to earth to save and redeem mankind!
Does he not care? He cared so much that he gave up celestial glories to become a humble man, despised by all, supreme sufferer. He cared so much that he gave up his life on the cross.
Ah, yes, the disciples didn’t know this yet, but they could have preceived that the Master would not lose any of his sheep.
And even with our post-crucifixion perspective, we still doubt and ask why the Lord doesn’t care about us!
As much as it may appear that Jesus is sleeping on the job, he is heading in a straight line for our salvation.
Have you ever asked Jesus such a question? What was the storm that prompted it?
