The phrase “durable goods” is a laugh. Ask the Japanese, after the earthquake and tsunami, how durable their goods were.
We seek the eternal. We try to invest in the ephemeral the quality of the permanent. We deceive ourselves to think that we possess in the world what will endure.
And the world is passing away with all its desires, but the person who does the will of God remains forever.
1 John 2:17 NET
What a race for the things of this world! People study, work, kill themselves to pursue this world, and in a moment all is lost. Whoever desires the things of God can have them easily. In the verse above, any person can have them who is willing to do God’s will. All have equal access to eternity. And there is little competition, for those who do the will of God are few.
But I have decided to do what few are willing to do in order to have what few will ever possess.
How about you?
