My mother’s brother’s son, Dearl McDonald, passed away Saturday, Dec. 14. If I ever met him it was when I was a boy. Uncle Bud was one of the older ones of the family, so Dearl would have been some 21 years older than I.
Just in case the link goes bad, here’s the obituary:
Dearl Gene McDonald, 77, of Rockford, died December 14, 2013 in Provena Cor Mariae. Born March 2, 1936 in Arkansas, the son of Harold and Ina McDonald. He lived most of his life in Rockford and worked for his father at McDonald’s Furniture. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
He is survived by his sisters, Lois (Jim) Matz and Char (Dan) Ferri and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brother, Warren McDonald; and sister, Joyce McDonald.
Private family services will be held. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory is honored to have assisted the family.
Rockford IL was a long way from northeast Arkansas in those days. I’m saddened we didn’t have more contact with the family up there.
