Mark Wallace thinks he’s identified a chiastic structure in 1 Cor. 1-3.

He’s asked for feedback on it. I reproduce it here, in case the material there is lost:

A … 1:10-17) don’t boast in men
B … 1:18-2:5) God’s wisdom makes fools of the worldly-wise
C … 2:6-3:4) don’t be deceived, you may not be as wise as you think
D … 3:5-9) God’s field: God gives the growth
E … 3:10-15) the Day will disclose the real value of ministry
D’ … 3:16-17) God’s temple: God gives the value
C’ … 3:18) don’t be deceived, you may not be as wise as you think
B’ … 3:19-20) God’s wisdom makes fools of the worldly-wise
A’ … 3:21-23) don’t boast in men

A problem I see offhand is that the word “boast” or “glory” doesn’t appear in A. The point of commonality, however, does center in naming Paul, Apollo, Cephas and Christ. That is certainly present. Time to ponder. …

What do you think?
