2 Thessalonians can’t have been written by the apostle Paul, say the know-it-alls, because it follows the first letter slavishly. The greeting and closing are almost exactly like the first.

But then Ephesians can’t have been written by Paul because he always writes the final benediction in the second person rather than in the third, as in 6.23. He would never vary his customary way of closing. So say the know-it-alls.

See the inconsistency? Poor Paul! He can’t win for losing!

When people want to find a reason for undermining Scripture, any flimsy one will do.
