Making up for long absence in UPLift, by another one in short space of time.
ASK NOT
by J. Randal Matheny
Ask not for riches, power or rights
To spend for self, or multiply sins;
Look not to heaven with splintered heart,
Its windows shuttered against your shame.
Ask not for special grace, for speed
In divine counsels for your comfort.
God’s way is not ours, a thousand ages
Compressed in a day, an inch for the deep.
Ask not to bend a rule, debate
The root of justice, to rue the rod;
Be not deceived: what a man sows,
He reaps, for ill or good, forever.
