The singular word of God

Bible word of GodThe Bible is inspired, down to its words and letters. It is God’s revelation to mankind. So it requires our special attention. Jesus gave God’s revelation his full devotion. He said that “the things I say are exactly what the Father told me to say” (John 12.50 ERV).

The Bible is detailed. In spiritual matters, we ought to sweat the small stuff. Paul even makes an argument based on a word in the singular:

Now, God made his promises to Abraham and to his descendant. The scripture does not use the plural descendants, meaning many people, but the singular descendant, meaning one person only, namely, Christ (Galatians 3.16 GNT).

Christians will be concerned with understanding exactly the meaning of the Word of God, so that they can both appreciate exactly what God did in Christ and fulfill exactly the will of God in order to please him.

For the Bible is a singular document.
