UPLift poem: Give Me This Mountain

by J. Randal Matheny (c) 2012

Give me this mountain, I with sword in hand,
Give me this hill, for my inherited land;
Give me these slopes, this rocky crag on high,
Give me this mountain, ere I die.

This popped in my head on my way home from the mall, after eating a small bite for the evening.

The reference, of course, is to Caleb. OK, so it's KJV language. I grew up on it, and it still comes to mind at times.

I have a vague tune in mind for it, hence the change to four feet in the last line.

May this be your prayer as you meet the high challenges of life!

  1. When I did a series on Bible mountains Caleb and Hebron was included. Great moment of history with great lessons!
