In a Postive Quote email, John Groom cites Pablo Picasso, “I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”
Some Christians, out of fear or laziness or rebelliousness, refuse to get their hands dirty in the work of the Lord. One excuse heard: I don’t know how.
One brother I worked with was reluctant to teach any of his non-Christian friends for fear of messing up and never having another chance to show them the Way.
He failed to see that, if he didn’t make the effort, they’d certainly not arrive at a knowledge of the truth. To his credit, he did learn how.
Remember what Jesus sent to tell John the Baptist?
So he answered them, “Go tell John what you have seen and heard: The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news proclaimed to them” (Luke 7:22 NET).
Just so, Jesus makes the tongue-tied learn to teach and preach, the timid find courage, the lazy find energy. But they must be always doing what they cannot do, in order to learn from the Lord how to do it.

Great little message about a big sized problem that we can wrestle with from time to time. Like I’ve told others, to make a spiritual application, before we learn to run we have to learn to walk. Before we learn to walk we have to learn to crawl. Crawling doesn’t get us far very fast but it beats sitting in the same place. Make the effort and improvement will happen. It all takes learning.
