Reading Nevil Shute
For a day off, this afternoon I read through Nevil Shute’s 1939 novel, What Happened to theĀ Corbetts.
Shute predicted the bombing of Southampton in a subdued story of the war’s effects on a middle-class family.
Have no idea how this copy came into our hands.
Coincidental that on my last trip to the US in May I caught the first TV version of On the Beach.
