Since I’m preaching during all of 2008 at SJC, yesterday I began a new series on “The Attitudes of Christ” with the sermon, “Jesus, the Corageous.”
Here’s my outline, not a typical preacher’s three-pointer:
1. Courage to Speak the Truth, Matthew 15:10-20
- Context and story of the passage.
- Jesus did not speak to please at all costs.
- Jesus spoke the Father’s Principle (16-20).
2. Courage to Suffer on the Cross, John 12:27-36
- Context and story of the passage.
- Jesus did not run from the pain.
- Jesus served the Father’s Purpose (28).
Conclusion:
- Whether in word (speaking the truth or action (suffering
on the cross), Jesus showed courage.
- When we walk with Jesus, we will be courageous as well.
