Poetry Revival

This was done on a religious writer’s forum.

Ah! pray the day will soon arrive
When love for poetry will revive;

Your exquisite verse may be the star
To guide the wise to come from afar,

And bow before a manger’s straw
To offer gifts in speechless awe.

Let not the lack of human praise
Or common yawns and boorish nays

Dampen the poet’s throbbing pulse;
Let dullards in disdain convulse!

But never let them say of me,
“He gave up writing poetry.”
